Neal Oman
/ Chief Technology Officer
Neal Oman helped launch Plunk and currently serves as Chief Technology Officer. He has spent 30+ years serving in a variety of technical executive, line management and technical individual contributor roles in software systems engineering and applied research, the recent 20 of those years focused on applied artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced analytics.
Neal was most recently a Sr. Technical Advisor for Data Science and Analytics at Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL) where he supported lab outreach and collaboration with agencies across the US government working to leverage AI/ML. He also managed several AI/ML projects PNNL executed for US government sponsors.
Prior to PNNL, Neal was vice president of research at HERE Technologies, leading a group of six geo-distributed research labs applying the latest applied ML techniques to automate and drive efficiencies in the massive data mining operation that is modern global digital map-making. Before HERE Technologies, he worked in a series of venture capital-funded technology startups, including Medio Systems, Finsphere Corp, Intelligent Results, Inc., and Onyx Software. Neal began his business and technology career at Accenture where he served in a variety of consulting engagement management, large-enterprise systems integration, software engineering, and technology development roles.
Neal holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Utah State University and two MS degrees, in applied mathematics and aeronautics and astronautics, from the University of Washington.
